Overview:
De Leon signed with the Astros in September 2024 for just $17,500, and he has already outperformed that bonus. After posting a respectable .784 OPS in 39 games as an 18-year-old in the Dominican Summer League last season, the Astros brought him stateside to begin 2026 with the FCL Astros.
He quickly became one of the club’s top hitters, batting .390 with eight doubles, four home runs, 23 RBIs and more walks than strikeouts over 38 games. He has really good bat to ball skills and with some intriguing pop from the right side.
Behind the plate, he also threw out 44% of attempted base stealers. According to his Instagram, De Leon was promoted to Fayetteville this week. At just 19 years old, he has an opportunity to climb the Astros’ prospect rankings in a hurry if he continues to perform at the next level.
