Overview:
Durnin attended Wichita State before transferring to Missouri for his junior season where he had a breakout year batting .329 with 9 home runs and 11 stolen bases. Durnin is above average defensively at shortstop and provides some pop from his bat. He was the Appalachian League player of the year in 2025.
Baseball America had the following to say about Durnin: “Durnin is a 6-foot-1, 200-pound righthanded hitter and shortstop who spent two seasons as Wichita State’s everyday shortstop in 2024 and 2025, but was just a mild offensive performer. He then transferred to Missouri for the 2026 spring season where he continued to hit at a high level, with a .329/.438/.570 slash line, nine home runs and 11 steals. Durnin has a big bat waggle and a lower handset, but overall has solid rhythm in the box with good contact ability and pullside power. It translated to above-average bat-to-ball, swing decisions and exit velocities in 2026, and Durnin was fairly productive against all pitch types, though he struggled to turn premium velocity into much impact.”
