Overview:
Fraide was signed by the Astros out of Mexico in January 2025. While he isn’t physically imposing at 5-foot-11, the right-hander has some impressive stuff. His fastball can reach 96 mph, and he pairs it with a solid mix of off-speed pitches. Fraide began his professional career in the Dominican Summer League last year but quickly earned a move stateside. He opened the 2026 season in the Florida Complex League, and after just four starts, the Astros promoted him to Single-A Fayetteville at only 20 years old. Fraide has handled the aggressive assignment well, posting a 3.38 ERA with 48 strikeouts over 42.2 innings. His combination of velocity, secondary stuff and success against more advanced competition makes him an intriguing young arm in the Astros’ system.
