Houston Astros Prospect Profile: Jack Radel
Jack Radel – RHP
HT/WT: 6’5”/250 | Bat/Throw: R/R | School: Notre Dame | DOB: 09/14/04
Overview:
Radel is a monster on the mound listed at 6-5 and 250 lbs. He has a fastball that he runs up to 98 mph and a plus cutter, slider and plus control. In 2026 for Notre Dame, the right-hander posted a 3.29 ERA while striking out 116 batters over 87.2 innings. He also has elite extension which helps his pitches play up. Radel has above average control and mixes it with multiple off-speed pitches.
Baseball America had the following to say about Radel: “Radel established himself as a workhorse starter and reliable innings- eater in his first two seasons at Notre Dame. Radel has a power pitcher’s frame at 6-foot-5, 250 pounds. He gets down the mound with elite extension and added nearly two full ticks to his fastball in 2026. He now sits around 94 mph and can touch 98, with above-average fastball command. He also has impressive feel to spot an increasingly diverse mix of secondary pitches led by his slider. Radel’s slider is a mid-80s breaking pitch with gyro shape that he throws with conviction to both righties and lefties. His third pitch is an upper-80s cutter that has become a much more prominent secondary in his junior season.”
