Astros Minor League Recap: September 6th

Another day of Astros minor league baseball in the books! See the results below. Check out the previous day’s recap here.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (69-65) won 2-0 (BOX SCORE)

Pecko started for Sugar Land and was dominant tossing 6 scoreless innings with 8 strikeouts. The offense got on the board in the 5th inning scoring 2 runs on a Leon RBI single and Cole bases loaded walk. Bolton tossed 2.1 scoreless in relief and Hernandez came on and closed it out as Sugar Land won 2-0.

Note: Pecko has a 3.60 ERA in Triple-A.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (45-84) won 4-0 (BOX SCORE)

The Hooks got on the board in the second inning scoring 3 runs on a Martinez 2 run triple and a run scoring on a wild pitch. They got another run in the 5th on a Baez RBI double. Nezuh started for the Hooks and was great tossing 5 scoreless innings with 3 strikeouts. Mancini was great in relief closing it out with 4 scoreless innings as the Hooks won 4-0.

Note: Nezuh has allowed 1 run over his last 16 innings.


A+: Asheville Tourists (52-75) won 8-0 (BOX SCORE)

McPherson started for Asheville and pitched really well tossing 5 scoreless innings allowing just one hit. The offense got on the board in the 3rd on a Vogel solo HR. In the 6th Gomez added a 2 run single. The offense got 2 more runs in the 7th on a Whitaker 2 run triple. The offense capped off the night scoring 3 runs in the 8th inning on a Salas 2 run single and Holy RBI single. Pinto closed it out with 4 scoreless innings as Asheville won 8-0.

Note: Schiavone is hitting .292 in High-A.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (69-62) lost 13-9 (BOX SCORE)

Smith started for the Woodpeckers but struggled allowing 5 runs, 4 earned, over 3 innings. The offense got on the board in the 3rd scoring 4 runs on an error, a Powell RBI triple and Vasquez sac fly. Salem picked up 2 runs in the 5th but the Woodpeckers responded with a run in the 6th on a Monister RBI double. After another two runs from Salem, the Woodpeckers responded again with a Powell 3 run HR. In the 8th, Frey tied the game on a solo HR. Salem took the lead again scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the 8th. The offense went down in order in the 9th as the Woodpeckers fell 13-9.

Note: Frey is hitting .326 this season.
