Astros Minor League Recap: September 10th

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (70-68)

Game 1 – lost 5-3 (BOX SCORE)

Ivey got the start for Sugar Land and went 4 innings allowing 3 runs. The offense got on the board in the 4th inning on a Diaz 2 run HR. Round Rock got 2 runs off Santa as they extended their lead. The offense got one back in the 7th on a Corona solo HR but that was it as they fell 5-3.

Note: Cole is hitting .353 in Triple-A.

Game 2 – won 7-4 (BOX SCORE)

Sugar Land got on the board in the first inning on a Matthews grand slam. In the 3rd inning the offense added 2 runs on a Melton RBI double and Singleton RBI single.  Knorr got the start and tossed 2 scoreless innings. He was relieved by Kouba who went 4 innings allowing 3 runs. The offense got another run in the 7th on a Matthews RBI single and the pen closed it out as Sugar Land won game two 7-4.

Note: Matthews has a .824 OPS in Triple-A.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (45-87) lost 2-1 (BOX SCORE)

Swanson got the start for the Hooks and pitched well tossing 5.2 scoreless innings with 8 strikeouts. The Hooks got on the board in the 8th scoring a run on a wild pitch. In the 9th, Bido struggled allowing 2 runs as the Wind Surge took the lead. The Hooks offense was unable to respond as they fell 2-1.

Note: Swanson hs 64 K in 66 innings this season.
