Astros Minor League Recap: August 1st

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (51-52) lost 7-2 (BOX SCORE)

Garcia got the rehab start last night for Sugar Land and allowed 3 runs over 2.2 innings. After a couple scoreless innings, Brown came in and allowed 3 runs over 4.1 innings. The offense got on the board in the 8th inning on RBI singles from Guillorme and Sacco but that was it from the offense as Sugar Land fell 7-2.

Note: Salazar has a .745 OPS in Triple-A.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (34-65)

Game 1 – lost 8-5 (BOX SCORE)

This game was a continuation of Thursday’s game which was suspended after one inning. The offense got on the board in the 2nd inning on an RBI groundout and another run in the 3rd on an Austin RBI single. Mayer took over in the 2nd inning and went 3.1 innings allowing 7 runs, 5 earned. The offense got 3 runs back in the 8th on walks to Johnson and Palma and a Sullivan sac fly but that would be it as the Hooks fell 8-5.

Note: Guillemette has a .807 OPS in Double-A.

Game 2 – won 6-2 (BOX SCORE)

Rodning got the start for the Hooks in game two and went 3 innings allowing 1 run. The offense got on the board in the 3rd inning scoring 5 runs on a Cole 2 run double, Guillemette 2 run double, and Johnson RBI double. Martinez added another run with an RBI single in the 4th. Halligan tossed 3 scoreless in relief and Sanchez allowed a run in the 9th as the Hooks won game two 6-2.

A+: Asheville Tourists (43-55) won 3-2 (BOX SCORE)

Tredwell started for Asheville and went 4 innings allowing 1 hit and 2 runs. He was relieved by Langford who tossed 3 scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts. The offense was quiet until the 6th when Whitaker connected on a 3 run double. Leach and Tucker had scoreless outings out of the pen as Asheville won 3-2.

Note: Langford has a 3.38 ERA this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (51-45) SUSPENDED
