This will be your weekly hot list of prospects who are performing well at the plate and on the mound. Here is last week’s hotlist. Below is the new hotlist for Week Twelve.

Who’s Hot At The Plate?

Jancel Villarroel – Villarroel got off to a great start this year but after struggling in May, he’s turned it around lately. This week, the 20-year-old hit .389 with 2 doubles, a triple, a home run and two stolen bases. Overall he has a .744 OPS with 13 2B, 4 HR, 15 SB in 61 games this season.

Zach Cole – Cole has been quite the anomaly this year. When he’s hot, he is hot and this week he swung it well. This week in six games for the Hooks, Cole hit .300 with a double, a triple and 3 homers. He now has a .805 OPS with 8 HR, 13 SB in 43 games for the Hooks this year.

Joseph Sullivan – After being on this list last week, Sullivan finds himself here again. The 22-year-old played in four games this week for Asheville and he hit .357 with 2 doubles and a home run. He has 14 HR, 27 SB and 57 walks over 65 games for High-A Asheville this season.

Brice Matthews – After a slow start to the season, Matthews has really been heating up. On this list last week too, Matthews hit .300 with two doubles, triple, home run and 4 runs batted in. He hit .306 with a .960 OPS in June and has 10 HR, 23 SB this season in 67 Triple-A games.

Who’s Hot On The Mound?

Bryce Mayer -Mayer has been one of the best pitchers from the 2024 draft and this week was no different. In his one start for Asheville, he tossed 5 scoreless innings allowing just 2 baserunners while striking out 7. He has a 3.22 ERA with 75 strikeouts in 58.2 innings this season.

Joan Ogando – Ogando has been up and down this season, but he was great this week. In two appearances, the right-hander totaled 10 innings allowing just 1 unearned run. Overall this year, he has a 3.53 ERA and allowed just 33 hits in 58.2 innings, good for a .165 batting average against.

Juan Bello – The Astros acquired Bello in the deal that sent Pressly to the Cubs. Following a strong 2024, Bello got off to a rough start in 2025. He has turned in some better outings recently, like this week when the right-hander went 5 innings allowing 1 run with 5 strikeouts.

Jose Fleury – Fleury started out the year dominant before dealing with a minor injury which shelved him for a bit. He has since returned and had a good outing this week tossing 4 scoreless innings with 2 strikeouts. Overall this year, the right-hander has a 1.82 ERA with 37 K in 39.2 innings.
