Who’s Hot At The Plate?
Joseph Sullivan – Feels like Sullivan has been on this list more times than not this season. He was promoted to Double-A last week and his first look at Double-A pitching fared well for him. In six games for the Hooks, Sullivan hit .333 with a double, 2 home runs, 6 runs batted in and 2 stolen bases.
Zach Cole – I said this a few weeks ago but when Cole gets hot, he gets really hot. This week in six games for the Hooks he hit .350 with 3 doubles and 4 runs batted in. He also walked 8 times. Overall he is hitting .248 but has a .850 OPS with 13 doubles, 13 home runs and 13 stolen bases.
Collin Price – Price started the year on fire but cooled off a bit. This week he got hot again hitting .429 with 2 triples, a home run and 3 runs batted in. He is having a solid season overall posting a .787 OPS with 14 doubles, 13 home runs and 47 runs batted in over 78 games for Sugar Land.
Kenni Gomez – Gomez got off to a slow start this year dealing with some injuries, but he has started to heat up recently. This week he hit .412 with 2 doubles, 2 runs batted in and 3 stolen bases. He’s now hitting .340 over his last 12 games and .280 over his last 53 games in High-A.
Who’s Hot On The Mound?
Bryce Mayer -Mayer has been one of the best pitchers from the 2024 draft and upon his recent promotion to Double-A, his dominance continued. This week the right-hander tossed 5 scoreless innings allowing 1 hit with 4 strikeouts in his one appearance. He has 97 K in 77.1 innings this season.
Dylan Howard – Howard was the Astros 8th round pick in 2024 and after dealing with an injury, he’s finally healthy and on the mound. This week for Fayetteville he had his best start as a pro tossing 5 scoreless innings allowing 1 hit while striking out 6. He has a 3.58 ERA overall this season.
Ethan Pecko – Pecko had a rough start to the year dealing with some injuries and then a few rough outings once healthy, but he has turned it around. This week he tossed 5 scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts in his start for the Hooks. He has a 1.82 ERA over his last five games.
Alonzo Tredwell – Tredwell was the Astros second round pick in 2023 but is finally showing why he was a high pick. This week the right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits over 5 innings while striking out 6 for Asheville. Overall this season he has a 3.80 ERA with 79 K in 73.1 innings this season.
