Astros Minor League Recap: July 3rd

Another day of Astros minor league baseball in the books! See the results below. Check out the previous day’s recap here.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (42-42) won 7-6 (BOX SCORE)

Fleury got the start and allowed 6 runs over 1.2 innings of work. The offense got on the board in the 4th on a Price RBI single and 2 runs scoring on an error. The pen was solid holding it down until the 9th when Bastidas tied the game on a 3 run HR. In the 10th, Sugar Land walked it off on a Corona RBI single.

Note: Hernandez has a 1.91 ERA this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (26-50) SUSPENDED

A+: Asheville Tourists (34-42) won 3-2 (BOX SCORE)

Bello started for Asheville and pitched really well allowing 1 run over 5 innings while striking out 8. The offense got on the board in the 4th on a Gomez RBI single and Perez RBI groundout. In the 7th, Janek connected on a solo HR. Guedez closed it out allowing 1 run over the final 4 innings as Asheville won 3-2.

Note: Bello has a 4.06 ERA this season.

  • Juan Bello, RHP: 5.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 8 K (WIN)
  • Jose Guedez, RHP: 4.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K (SAVE)

A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (41-37) lost 3-1 (BOX SCORE)

Rodriguez started for the Woodpeckers and pitched well allowing 2 runs over 5.1 innings. The offense got on the board in the 6th scoring a run on a balk. The pen allowed 1 run and the offense was quiet the rest of the way as the Woodpeckers fell 3-1.

Note: Villarroel has 16 stolen bases this season.
