Astros Minor League Recap: July 13th

Another day of Astros minor league baseball in the books! See the results below. Check out the previous day’s recap here.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (47-44) won 6-2 (BOX SCORE)

Sugar Land got on the board in the 5th inning on a Sacco RBI single and Diaz 2 run HR. Blubaugh got the start and pitched well allowing 1 run over 5.1 innings. The offense played add on late getting a Price RBI double in the 8th and a Barber 2 run double in the 9th. The pen allowed 1 run but shut it down as Sugar Land won 6-2.

Note: Barber has a .738 OPS in Triple-A.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (29-57) lost 9-0 (BOX SCORE)

Rodriguez started for the Hooks and allowed 4 runs over 4.1 innings. The pen struggled allowing 5 runs as the Hooks found themselves in a big hole. The offense was quiet all night collecting just 5 hits as they were shutout in the 9-0 loss.

Note: Martinez is hitting .286 for the Hooks.


A+: Asheville Tourists (38-48) lost 3-2 (BOX SCORE)

Asheville got on the board in the 3rd scoring a run on a wild pitch. Santos started for Asheville and pitched well allowing 2 runs over 5 innings. Asheville tied it up in the 5th on a Vogel RBI single. Taylor went the next 3 innings allowing 1 run but the offense was quiet the rest of the way as Asheville fell 3-2.

Note: Taylor has a 3.44 ERA this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (45-41) lost 8-3 (BOX SCORE)

The Woodpeckers got on the board in the 3rd on a Hernandez RBI single. They got another run in the 4th on a Salas RBI single. Howard got the start and went 4 innings allowing 3 runs. The offense picked up another run in the 6th on a wild pitch. McPherson struggled in relief allowing 5 runs as the Woodpeckers fell 8-3.

Note: Almonte has a 2.08 ERA this season.
