Astros Minor League Recap: July 10th

Another day of Astros minor league baseball in the books! See the results below. Check out the previous day’s recap here.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (44-44) won 12-8 (BOX SCORE)

Fleury started for Sugar Land and went 3.2 innings allowing 3 runs. The offense got on the board in the 3rd on a Hamilton solo HR. They got 4 more runs in the 4th on a Diaz grand slam. In the 6th, the offense picked up 3 runs on a Bastidas 2 run HR and Price RBI single. Diaz would add an RBI single in the 7th. The offense continued to add one scoring 3 in the 9th on an error and Hamilton 2 run double. The pen allowed a few runs but was able to hold on for the 12-8 win.

Note: Bastidas has a .807 OPS this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (29-54)

Game 1 – lost 5-4 (BOX SCORE)

Mancini got the start in game one and went 5.2 innings allowing 5 runs, 4 earned, while striking out 8. The offense got on the board in the 2nd inning on Johnson and Sacco RBI singles. In the 4th, Guillemette connected on a solo HR. The Hooks got a run in the 7th on a Clarke sac fly but that was it as they fell 5-4.

Game 2 – lost 9-5 (BOX SCORE)

Dombroski started game two for the Hooks but struggled allowing 7 runs over 3 innings. The offense responded with 4 runs in the 3rd inning on a Baez walk, Wrobleski RBI single and Johnson 2 run single. They got another run in the 4th on a Baez sac fly. The pen allowed a couple more runs and the offense was unable to score again as the Hooks fell 9-5.


A+: Asheville Tourists (36-46) lost 7-2 (BOX SCORE)

Tredwell started for Asheville but struggled allowing 6 runs over 3.2 innings. The offense got on the board in the 2nd inning on a Jaworsky RBI triple. They picked up another run in the 6th on a wild pitch. The pen allowed another run and the offense struggled the rest of the way as Asheville fell 7-2.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (43-40) lost 2-1 (BOX SCORE)

Rodriguez started for the Woodpeckers and pitched really well tossing 6 scoreless innings with 5 strikeouts. The offense got on the board in the 5th on a Hernandez sac fly. In the 9th, Rosario gave up a 2 run HR as the Shorebirds took the lead. The offense was unable to score again and were no-hit in the 2-1 loss.

Note: Rodriguez has 71 K in 66.2 innings this season.
