This will be your weekly hot list of prospects who are performing well at the plate and on the mound. Here is last week’s hotlist. Below is the new hotlist for Week Nine.
Who’s Hot At The Plate?
Alejandro Nunez – Nunez has flown under the radar a bit but the 20-year-old put together another strong week. In four games for Asheville, Nunez hit .500 with 2 doubles and 4 runs batted in. He also had 4 walks to just 1 strikeout. He’s hitting .299 this season in 39 games in High-A.
Alberto Hernandez – Hernandez is a tooled up infielder who put it together a bit this week. In five games for the Woodpeckers, the 21-year-old hit .304 with 2 doubles, a triple and 6 runs batted in. He also added 2 stolen bases. He’s improved in every category from 2024 to 2025.
Walker Janek – Janek got off to a bit of a slow start but it appears he is turning the corner and starting to swing it well. In four games for Asheville this week, he hit .308 with a double, a homer and two walks. He is now hitting .282 in 33 games in High-A while throwing out 36% of base runners.
Jesus Bastidas – Bastidas had a great year in 2024 and after a slow start this season, he’s started swinging it again like he did last season. This week, Bastidas hit .389 with 3 doubles and 5 runs batted in over 5 games for Sugar Land. He’s hitting .274 over his last 26 games.
Who’s Hot On The Mound?
Miguel Ullola – This is turning into the Ullola show. After dominating the month of May, he started out June well tossing 5 scoreless innings while racking up 7 strikeouts. He has a 3.08 ERA with 52 strikeouts in 38 innings this season. It’s only a matter of time before he gets called up to the Astros.
Brett Gillis – Gillis was a 9th round pick in 2022 and has dealt with the injury bug up until this year. After being on the list last week, he’s on here again. This week the right-hander tossing 5 scoreless innings with 5 strikeouts in his one start. He has a 2.45 ERA with 43 K in 36.2 innings this season.
Aaron Brown – Brown, a 9th round pick in 2021, has seen his struggles this year. This week though, he turned in his best outing of the year tossing 5.2 scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts. With the injuries in Houston, if Brown can get rolling he could have a chance at a call-up.
Alimber Santa – Santa has been dominant all season and this week was no different. The right-hander tossed 5.2 innings allowing g just 1 unearned run. In 40 innings in relief this season for the Hooks, he’s posted a 0.90 ERA and held opposing hitters to just a .182 batting average against.
