Astros Prospect Hotlist: Week Eleven

This will be your weekly hot list of prospects who are performing well at the plate and on the mound. Here is last week’s hotlist. Below is the new hotlist for Week Eleven.

Who’s Hot At The Plate?

Will Bush – Bush has quietly put together a strong year in 2025. This week, the 21-year-old hit .375 with a double, a homer and 8 walks in 4 games. Overall this season, Bush is hitting .262 with a .900 OPS and 7 2B, 9 HR in 45 games for Asheville.

Cesar Hernandez – Hernandez was a high-profile signing by the Astros, signing for $1.7 million. He struggled some in 2024 but has really turned it on recently. This week, Hernandez hit .364 with 2 doubles, a home run and 2 stolen bases. He has a .897 OPS over his last 30 games for the Woodpeckers.

Joseph Sullivan – Sullivan has been quite the stand out in 2025. The 22-year-old had a home run, 4 run batted in and 3 stolen bases this week for Asheville. In 61 games this season, he’s compiled 13 home runs, 27 stolen bases and 56 walks. A strong season for the 2024 7th round pick.

Brice Matthews – After a slow start to the season, Matthews has been really hot feasting in the PCL. This week in seven games, Matthews hit .360 with 2 doubles, 2 runs batted in and 3 stolen bases. He’s hitting .376 over his last 28 games and is up to 9 HR, 22 SB this season.

Who’s Hot On The Mound?

Anthony Cruz – Cruz is a 5’11” right hander who is making his full-season debut this year. He has had some ups and downs, but this week he pitched well allowing 1 run over 10 innings while striking out 10 batters. Overall, Cruz has 55 K in 58.1 innings with a 4.63 ERA for Fayetteville.

Anderson Brito – Brito was a true breakout prospect last year flying up the ranks from the Dominican Summer League to Fayetteville in one season. The 20-year-old has handled the bump to High-A well striking out 65 over 49.1 innings with a 3.28 ERA. This includes a 2.56 ERA over his last 7 outings with 44 K in 31.2 innings. This week in one outing he struck out 6 over 5 innings allowing 1 run.

Alonzo Tredwell – Tredwell was originally a 2nd round pick back in 2023 but struggled with some injuries in 2024. After a nice start to the year iN Fayetteville, he earned a promotion to High-A where he tossed 5 scoreless innings with 3 strikeouts in his debut. This year he has a 3.57 ERA with 55 K in 53 innings overall.

Brett Gillis – The right-hander dealt with some injuries, missing the entire 2024 season. He is back healthy now and pitching well. He has a 1.98 ERA over his last six games with 30 K in 27.1 innings. In his one outing this week, Gillis allowed 2 runs over 6 innings while striking out 4. He should be in Double-A soon.
