Astros Minor League Recap: June 6th

Another day of Astros minor league baseball in the books! See the results below. Check out the previous day’s recap here.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (33-27) lost 9-5 (BOX SCORE)

Sugar Land got on the board in the 2nd inning on a Sacco RBI groundout. Blubaugh started for the Space Cowboys and allowed 4 runs over 5.1 innings. Sugar Land got a run in the 3rd on a passed ball and another in the 4th on a Barber RBI single. In the 5th, Narvaez added an RBI single. Murray allowed 4 runs in the 7th as the River Cats took the lead. The offense got one run back in the 8th on a Bastidas RBI double but that was it as Sugar Land fell 9-5.

Note: Bastidas has a .776 OPS this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (19-35) lost 8-2 (BOX SCORE)

The Hooks got on the board in the 2nd inning on an Encarnacion RBI single. Urias started for the Hooks but struggled allowing 7 runs over 5 innings of work. The offense got a run back in the 9th on a Lavastida solo HR but that was it as they fell 8-2.


A+: Asheville Tourists (25-30) lost 8-1 (BOX SCORE)

Mayer started for Asheville and started well, but ran into some trouble and ended up allowing 5 runs over 4.1 innings. The offense’s lone run came in the 5th on a Nunez bases loaded walk. The pen allowed a few more runs and the offense was quiet the rest of the way as Asheville fell 8-1.

Note: Sullivan has a .927 OPS this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (30-25) lost 6-3 (BOX SCORE)

The Woodpeckers got on the board in the first inning on a Hernandez RBI triple. They got another run in the 2nd inning on a Luciano solo HR. Ogando got the start and allowed 3 runs over 4 innings of work. Mercedes allowed 3 runs in relief as the GreenJackets went up 6-2. The offense got a run back in the 9th inning on a Luciano RBI single but that would be it as they fell 6-3.

Note: Hernandez is hitting .348 in June.
