Astros Minor League Recap: June 4th

Another day of Astros minor league baseball in the books! See the results below. Check out the previous day’s recap here.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (33-25) won 4-2 (BOX SCORE)

Sugar Land got on the board in the first inning scoring a run on a Bastidas bases loaded walk. Ullola got the start and pitched really well tossing 5 scoreless innings allowing 1 hit while striking out 7. Murray relieved Ullola and allowed 2 runs as the River Cats took the lead. In the 8th, the offense rallied for 3 runs on a Bastidas RBI double and Guillorme 2 run single. The back end of the bullpen closed it out as Sugar Land won 4-2.

Note: Ullola has a 3.08 ERA this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (18-34) lost 4-1 (BOX SCORE)

Mancini started for the Hooks and went 7 innings allowing 4 runs with 4 strikeouts. The offense got a run in the 3rd on a Diaz RBI single. Rodning tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief but the offense was quiet the rest of the way as the Hooks fell 4-1.

Note: Mancini has a 3.99 ERA this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (24-29) won 8-3 (BOX SCORE)

Asheville got the scoring started in the third scoring 2 runs on a Carrillo solo HR and Whitaker RBI double. They picked up 4 more runs in the 4th inning with a run scoring on an error and a 3 run double by Gonzalez. Bello got the start and went 5.1 innings allowing 2 runs. The offense played add on getting a run in the 5th on a Whitaker sac fly and another run in the 6th on a Janek solo HR. The pen allowed a run but Langford closed it out with 1.2 scoreless as Asheville won 8-3.

Note: Janek is hitting .333 over his last 16 games.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (29-24) won 5-4 (BOX SCORE)

The Woodpeckers got on the board in the first scoring 2 runs on a Hernandez groundout and a Holy steal of home. Tredwell got the start and allowed 3 runs, 2 earned in the first but ended up going 4.2 innings allowing just those 3 runs. The Woodpeckers tied it up in the 5th on a Villarroel RBI single. Rosario tossed 3 scoreless innings in relief as the game went to extra innings. In the 10th, the Woodpeckers took the lead on a C. Hernandez RBI single and A. Hernandez RBI double. Smith closed it out allowing just 1 run in the 10th as the Woodpeckers won 5-4.

Note: Tredwell has a 3.15 ERA this season.
