Astros Minor League Recap: June 3rd

Another day of Astros minor league baseball in the books! See the results below.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (32-25) lost 11-3 (BOX SCORE)

Ivey started for Sugar Land but struggled allowing 7 runs over 2 innings. The offense got their first run in the 2nd inning on a Sacco sac fly. They got 2 more in the 4th on a Matthews RBI double and Bastidas RBI single. The pen allowed another 4 runs and the offense was quiet the rest of the way as Sugar Land fell 11-3.

Note: Matthews has a .845 OPS this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (18-32) won 10-5 (BOX SCORE)

The Hooks got on the board early scoring 4 runs in the first inning on an Austin RBI single, Garcia RBI single, Jordan RBI double and a run scoring on a wild pitch. They got another run in the 3rd on an Encarnacion RBI single. Santos started for the Hooks and allowed 2 runs over 4.1 innings. The Hooks blew it open in the 5th scoring 4 runs on a Jordan RBI single, Deming 2 run double and Ferreras groundout. The pen would allow a few runs but the offense did more than enough as the Hooks won 10-5.

Note: Santa has a 0.96 ERA this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (23-29) won 6-2 (BOX SCORE)

Guedez got the start and pitched well allowing 1 run over 5 innings of work. The Asheville offense got on the board in the first on a Nunez RBI double. They got a run in the 4th on a wild pitch and then in the 5th, Whitaker connected on a solo HR and Guillemette added a 2 run HR. Carrillo would add an RBI single in the bottom of the 6th. The pen was solid as they closed out the 6-2 win.

Note: Bush has a .876 OPS this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (28-24) won 6-5 (BOX SCORE)

Rodriguez started for the Woodpeckers and allowed 2 runs over 2.2 innings. The offense got on the board in the 5th on a Hernandez solo HR. They got 2 more runs in the 6th on an error. In the 7th, Villarroel added an RBI single. The GreenJackets would retake the lead in the bottom of the 7th. In the 9th, the Woodpeckers tied it on a Valencia solo HR. The game went to extra innings and in the 10th inning, the Woodpeckers got a run on a Hernandez RBI single. Brown closed it out tossing 3 scoreless innings as the Woodpeckers won 6-5.

Note: Brown has a 1.40 ERA this season.
