Astros Minor League Recap: June 21st

Another day of Astros minor league baseball in the books! See the results below. Check out the previous day’s recap here.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (38-36) won 7-3 (BOX SCORE)

Ullola started for Sugar Land and went 4 innings allowing 2 runs. The offense had a breakout in the third inning scoring 6 runs on a Bastidas RBI single, Lavastida RBI single, Corona 2 run single, Matthews RBI single and Trammell sac fly. They got another run in the 4th on a Lavastida RBI double. The pen was solid closing out the 7-3 win.

Note: Matthews has 22 SB this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (22-45) lost 5-3 (BOX SCORE)

Mancini started for the Hooks and went 5 innings allowing 2 runs while striking out 3. The offense got on the board in the 3rd scoring 3 runs on a Baez RBI single and Austin 2 run double. Sanchez struggled in relief allowing 3 runs as the Cardinals took the lead. The offense was unable to score again as the Hooks fell 5-3.

Note: Santa has a 1.18 ERA this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (31-36) won 4-3 (BOX SCORE)

Brito got the start and pitched really well allowing 1 run over 5 innings with 6 strikeouts. The offense got on the board in the 5th on a Nunez RBI single. They got 2 more runs in the 6th on a Gomez RBI double and Whitaker sac fly. Bello allowed 2 runs in relief as the Blue Rocks tied it up. In the 9th, Asheville took the lead on a Spence RBI groundout. Guedez closed it out as Asheville won 4-3.

Note: Brito has a 3.28 ERA this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (36-32) lost 2-1 (BOX SCORE)

Smith started for the Woodpeckers and pitched well tossing 4.1 innings allowing just 1 unearned run with 4 strikeouts. The offense got on the board on a Schiavone steal of home in the third inning. The pen was great with Rodriguez tossing 4 scoreless innings but the offense was quiet and in the bottom of the 10th, the Pelicans walked it off as they won 2-1.

Note: Salas has .474 OBP in Single-A.
