Astros Minor League Recap: June 17th

Another day of Astros minor league baseball in the books! See the results below.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (37-32) lost 7-0 (BOX SCORE)

Dombroski made his Triple-A debut and went 4.2 innings allowing 4 runs. Tamarez struggled in relief allowing 3 runs as the Aviators extended their lead. The offense was quiet in this one collecting just 3 hits as they were shutout 7-0.

Note: Last night was Halligan’s first Triple-A game this year.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (22-41) won 8-4 (BOX SCORE)

The Hooks got on the board in the 2nd inning scoring 5 runs on a Ferreras solo HR, Austin RBI double, Sacco RBI single and Williams 2 run HR. In the 3rd, Guillemette connected on a 3 run HR to extend the lead. Rodning got the start and tossed 2 scoreless innings. Santa pitched in relief allowing 4 runs, 2 earned, over 2 innings. The rest of the pen was great tossing 5 scoreless as the Hooks won 8-4.

Note: Chirinos has a 0.00 ERA in Double-A.


A+: Asheville Tourists (28-36) won 6-3 (BOX SCORE)

Asheville got on the board in the first scoring 2 runs on a Spence RBI groundout and Bush RBI double. They got another run in the 4th on a wild pitch. Pinto got the start and pitched well allowing 1 run over 4.2 innings. The offense got 2 more in the 6th on a Bush solo HR and a run scoring on an error. Sullivan added an RBI single in the 8th to extend the lead. The Blue Rocks got 2 in the 9th but Asheville held on for the 6-3 win.

Note: Bush has a .894 OPS this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (35-29) won 5-2 (BOX SCORE)

The Woodpeckers got on the board in the 3rd inning scoring 2 runs on a Hernandez 2 run double. They got 2 more in the 5th on a Hernandez 2 run single. Cruz got the start and pitched well allowing 1 hit over 5 scoreless innings. C. Hernandez added an RBI double in the 6th inning. Frias allowed a couple runs in relief but Almonte held on as the Woodpeckers won 5-2.

Note: Cruz has a 4.89 ERA this season.
