Astros Minor League Recap: June 15th

Another day of Astros minor league baseball in the books! See the results below. Check out the previous day’s recap here.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (37-31) won 12-6 (BOX SCORE)

Sugar Land got on the board in the first inning scoring 2 runs on a Matthews RBI single and Price RBI single. They got another run in the 2nd inning on a Lavastida solo HR. In the 3rd, the offense added 2 more runs on Bastidas 2 run HR. Ullola got the start and went 3.2 innings allowing 2 runs. Sugar Land picked up another run in the 5th on a Castro solo HR. The offense continued to add on getting 2 runs in the 8th on a Narvaez RBI single and Lavastida sac fly. They got 3 more runs in the 9th on a Castro RBI double, Bastidas sac fly and Price RBI single. The pen allowed a few runs but held on for the 12-6 win.

Note: Matthews has a .879 OPS this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (21-41) lost 5-4 (BOX SCORE)

The Hooks got on the board in the 2nd inning on an Austin 2 run HR. They got another run in the 4th on a Ferreras RBI double. Mancini started for the Hooks and allowed 5 runs over 5.2 innings. The offense picked up another run in the 7th on a Willits RBI groundout but that would be it from the offense as the Hooks fell 5-4.

Note: Sanchez has 41 K in 34.2 innings this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (27-36) lost 5-4 (BOX SCORE)

Asheville got on the board in the first on a Spence RBI single. In the 3rd, they picked up 3 more runs on a Spence 2 run HR and Carrillo RBI single. Guedez got the start and went 5 innings allowing 2 runs. In the 9th, Perez allowed 2 unearned runs as the Cyclones tied it up. In the 10th, the Cyclones walked it off asa they won 5-4.

Note: Spence is hitting .290 in High-A.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (34-29)

Game 1 – lost 2-1 (BOX SCORE)

Rodriguez started for the Woodpeckers and pitched well tossing 4 scoreless innings with 3 strikeouts. Villarroel put the Woodpeckers on the board with a solo HR in the 6th inning. In the 7th, got 2 unearned runs off Smith to take the lead. The offense went down in order in the 7th as they dropped game one 2-1.

Note: Rodriguez has 54 K in 46.1 innings this season.

Game 2 – lost 8-4 (BOX SCORE)

Tredwell got the start in game two and went 4 innings allowing 3 runs while striking out 5. The Woodpeckers got on the board in the 5th inning on a Holy RBI double. The pen struggled allowing another 5 runs as the Woodpeckers were down 8-1. In the bottom of the 7th, the offense rallied for 3 runs on a Fisher walk and Trujillo 2 run single but that was it as the Woodpeckers dropped game two 8-4.

Note: Valencia has 29 SB this season.
