This will be your weekly hot list of prospects who are performing well at the plate and on the mound. Here is last week’s hotlist. Below is the new hotlist for Week Seven.
Who’s Hot At The Plate?
Kenni Gomez – Gomez got off to a slow start this year dealing with some injuries but since returning to the lineup, he has really gotten it going. This last week, Gomez hit .563 with 3 doubles, a home run, 6 runs batted in and 3 stolen bases. He’s hitting .404 over his last 13 games and is hitting .324 in May.
Lucas Spence – Spence has been a great find as an undrafted free agent for the Astros. The 22-year-old hit .478 with 3 doubles, a home run and 5 runs batted in over 6 games for Asheville. In 40 games between Single-A and High-A this year, Spence is hitting .307 with 10 doubles, 2 homers and 14 stolen bases.
Drew Brutcher – Brutcher has found himself on this list quite a bit and this week was no different. The undrafted free agent batted .381 with 2 doubles and a triple over 6 games for Fayetteville. He has also been a great find and is now hitting .343 with 20 runs batted in over 38 games in Single-A.
Walker Janek – Janek got off to a bit of a slow start this season, but the first rounder put together a strong week. The 22-year-old hit .350 with 2 doubles, 2 runs batted in and 2 stolen bases this week for Asheville. He also had 4 walks to just 1 strikeout. This week brought him up to .279 for the season.
Who’s Hot On The Mound?
Trey Dombroski – Dombroski has quietly put up some good numbers this season and this week had one of his better outings as he tossed 5.2 scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts. The left-hander has a 3.27 ERA with 33 strikeouts in 33 innings this season in Double-A for the Hooks.
Anderson Brito – Brito is one of the highest potential arms in the system and he has showed that this year already. This weeks, the right-hander went 6 innings allowing 1 run while striking out 5. At just 20-years-old, he has posted a 3.90 ERA with 40 K in 32.1 innings in High-A.
Luis Rodriguez – Rodriguez was acquired in the deal that sent Julks to the White Sox, and is appearing to be a great find for the Astros. This week, the right-hander pitched in two games and allowed 1 run over 10.2 innings. He allowed just 4 hits. Overall, Rodriguez has a 1.76 ERA this season.
Tyler Ivey – Ivey has made quite the bounce back this season after being out of baseball for a few years. In his one start this week for Sugar Land, he tossed 6 scoreless innings with 8 strikeouts. He has a 4.35 ERA in 39.1 innings this year for Sugar Land, and could be on the verge of a call-up if he continues to produce.
