Astros Minor League Recap: May 8th

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (18-18) won 5-1 (BOX SCORE)

Ullola started for Sugar Land and was dominant striking out 10 over 5 scoreless innings allowing just 1 hit. Sugar Land got on the board in the 6th on Bastidas RBI single. They got 2 more runs in the 7th on a Hamilton 2 run HR. They got some insurance in the 9th on a bases loaded hit by pitch and a bases loaded walk. The pen allowed 1 run over the final 4 innings as they closed out the win.

Note: Ullola has 26 K in 20 innings this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (9-21) lost 4-2 (BOX SCORE)

Fleury started for the Hooks but struggled a bit allowing 3 runs over 3 innings of work. The offense got on the board in the first inning on a Jordan RBI double. They got another run in the 3rd on a Jordan RBI single.

Note: Guilfoil has a 3.57 ERA this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (13-16) SUSPENDED – RAIN

A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (15-15) lost 11-9 (BOX SCORE)

David started for the Woodpeckers and allowed 2 runs over 4.2 innings. The offense got on the board in the 2nd inning scoring 3 runs on a Fisher 3 run HR. They got another run in the 4th on a Trimble RBI double. Salem took the lead with 3 runs in the 7th but the Woodpeckers responded with 3 runs in the bottom of the inning on a Carrillo 2 run HR and Powell solo HR. In the 9th, Salem took the lead scoring 4 runs but the Woodpeckers’ offense responded back again tying it up on a Carrillo 2 run HR. In the 10th, Salem retook the lead scoring 2 runs and the Woodpeckers’ offense was unable to rally as they fell 11-9.

Note: Holy is hitting .356 this season.
