Astros Minor League Recap: May 20th

Another day of Astros minor league baseball in the books! See the results below.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (27-18) OFF

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (13-26) won 4-2 (BOX SCORE)

Rodriguez started for the Hooks and tossed 2 scoreless innings. The Hooks got on the board in the 2nd inning on a Garcia RBI single. They got 2 more runs in the 4th on a wild pitch and Garcia sac fly. Urias went 4 innings in relief allowing just 1 run. Garcia added another RBI single in the 7th. Guilfoil allowed a solo HR in the 9th but held on for the save as the Hooks won 4-2.

Note: Santa has a 1.37 ERA this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (19-21) won 12-3 (BOX SCORE)

Asheville got the scoring started in the first inning on a Vogel 2 run HR and Bush RBI single. They got another run in the 3rd on a Guillemette solo HR. Mayer got the start and allowed 2 runs, 1 earned, over 4.2 innings. The offense piled it on late getting a Gonzalez RBI double in the 5th and a Sullivan 3 run HR in the 6th. In the 7th, the offense added 4 more runs on a Carrillo walk, Austin sac fly, Whitaker RBI single and Sullivan RBI double. Tucker and Langford closed it out with scoreless outings as Asheville won 12-3.

Note: Sullivan has a 1.025 OPS this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (20-20) won 3-2 (BOX SCORE)

Rodriguez started for the Woodpeckers and pitched well allowing 1 run over 5.2 innings. The offense got on the board in the 6th on a Hernandez sac fly. Smith tossed 3 scoreless in relief as the game went to extra innings. The Hillcats got a run in the 10th to go up 2-1 but the Woodpeckers responded with a Schiavone RBI single to tie it and a walk-off Luciano single to win 3-2.

Note: Rodriguez has a 2.00 ERA this season.
