Astros Minor League Recap: April 20th

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (9-12) won 8-4 (BOX SCORE)

Sugar Land got on the board in the first inning on a Guillorme RBI single. They got another run in the 5th on a Hudson solo HR. Gordon started for Sugar Land and was solid allowing 2 runs over 5 innings while striking out 3. The pen was solid keeping the game tied at 2. In the 10th, Guillorme connected on a 2 run double to give Sugar Land the lead. Castro allowed 2 runs in the bottom of the inning as Las Vegas tied it. In the 11th, Hudson added an RBI single and Short connected on a 3 run HR as Sugar Land took a 4 run lead. Castro tossed a scoreless 11th as Sugar Land won 8-4.

Note: Gordon has a 3.33 ERA this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (4-11) OFF

A+: Asheville Tourists (6-8) lost 8-7 (BOX SCORE)

Santos started for Asheville and struggled allowing 5 runs over 3 innings of work. The offense got on the board in the 5th inning on a Whitaker RBI double. True pitched 4 innings in relief allowing just 1 run as he kept it close. The offense rallied for 6 runs in the 7th inning on a Vogel RBI double, Jaworsky 2 run single, Janek 2 run single and a run on an error. Asheville took a 7-6 lead in the 9th but Chirinos was unable to hold it as the Emperors walked it off as Asheville fell 8-7.

Note: Janek is hitting .297 this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (7-8) won 7-1 (BOX SCORE)

The Woodpeckers got on the board in the 3rd inning on a Villarroel sac fly. They got 3 more runs in the 4th on a Luciano RBI double and Cauro 2 run HR. David got the start and tossed 3 scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts. In the 5th, Trujillo added a 2 run HR. Mayer was solid in relief striking out 6 over 3.1 scoreless innings. The offense added another in the 8th on a Luciano RBI groundout. Frias closed it out tossing 1.2 scoreless as the Woodpeckers won 7-1.

Note: Trujillo has a 1.230 OPS this season.
