Astros Minor League Recap: April 19th

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (8-12) lost 9-3 (BOX SCORE)

Ullola got the start for Sugar Land but struggled allowing 6 runs over 2.1 innings. The offense got on the board in the 2nd inning on a Hamilton RBI double. They picked up 2 more runs in the 3rd on a Whitcomb solo HR and Sacco RBI double. The pen allowed 3 more runs and the offense was shutout the rest of the way as Sugar Land fell 9-3.

Note: Murray has a 1.54 ERA this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (4-11)

Game 1 – lost 6-0 (BOX SCORE)

Nezuh got the start but after two scoreless innings, he ran into some trouble and ended up allowing 5 runs over 4.1 innings. Santos made his debut and allowed 1 run in 1 inning of work. The offense was quiet in game one, picking up just 2 hits as they fell 6-0.

  • Patrick Halligan, RHP: 0.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 K
  • Alex Santos, RHP: 1.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 2 K

Game 2 – lost 3-1 (BOX SCORE)

Torres got the start after McCullers was scratched. He ended up going 3 innings allowing 1 run and striking out 5. He was relieved by Santa who tossed 2 scoreless innings. The Hooks tied the game up in the 7th on an Encarnacion sac fly. In the bottom of the 7th, the RockHounds walked it off with a 2 run HR as they swept the double header.


A+: Asheville Tourists (6-7) lost 7-4 (BOX SCORE)

Asheville fell behind 1-0 early but rallied for 4 runs in the 2nd inning on an Austin RBI groundout and a Sullivan 3 run HR. Brito got the start and ended up allowing 4 runs over 3 innings as the Emperors tied it up. Swiney tossed 3.1 scoreless in relief to keep it tied. The Emperors rallied for 3 runs in the 8th to take the lead and the Asheville offense was unable to score again as they fell 7-4.

Note: Vogel has a .775 OPS this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (6-8) lost 2-0 (BOX SCORE)

Cruz started for the Woodpeckers and pitched well allowing 1 run over 4 innings while striking out 5. He was relieved by Rodriguez who tossed 4 scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts. The Nationals added a run in the 9th and the Woodpeckers offense struggled all game as they collected just 3 hits in the 2-0 loss.

Note: Rodriguez has a 1.50 ERA this season.
