NOTABLES
Brice Matthews, INF
The 2023 first-round pick put together a strong season making his way up to Triple-A. Despite an early back injury which cause him to miss some time, Matthews hit .265 with 15 home runs, 44 runs batted in, 32 stolen bases and a .865 OPS in 79 games. The bulk of his season came in Double-A where he had a .872 OPS in 44 games. A solid first full season for Matthews.
Miguel Ullola, RHP
Ullola is one of the higher potential pitching prospects in the system, and he showed that this season. The right-hander led the Astros systems in strikeouts racking up 171 in just 130.1 innings, including a couple starts in Triple-A. While the ERA and walks were a bit high, he was nearly unhittable allowing just a .162 BAA.
Jacob Melton, OF
Melton, the Astros 2nd round pick in 2022, had a solid year in 2024. He started the year in Double-A and hit .248 with a .749 OPS and 10 home runs/19 stolen bases, despite dealing with some injuries. He finished off the year in Triple-A and had 15 home runs and 30 stolen bases overall. Next spring will be a big one for him.
Joey Mancini, RHP
Mancini kind of flew under the radar but was one of the best pitchers in the system. He started the year in High-A and posted a 2.73 ERA earning a promotion to Double-A. For the Hooks, the right-hander had a 1.88 ERA giving him a 2.12 ERA with 107 strikeouts in 106.1 innings overall.
Tommy Sacco, INF
Sacco was a steady contributor for the Hooks this season. He played all over the infield for the Hooks and hit .243 with 16 doubles, 10 home runs and 16 stolen bases in 102 games. He was eventually promoted to Triple-A where he hit .275 in 22 games for Sugar Land.
Jose Fleury, RHP
Fleury got a nice aggressive promotion to start the season after pitching in Single-A in 2023. Fleury struggled with some injuries, but when he was on the mound he pitched well. In 19 games this year, he had a 3.66 ERA with 77 strikeouts in 71.1 innings. At just 22 years old, he could be a breakout guy next season.
