Astros Minor League Recap: September 5th

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

Here is the previous day’s recap.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (85-49) won 3-1 (BOX SCORE)

Gaither started for Sugar Land and tossed 2 scoreless innings. The offense got on the board in the 4th scoring 3 runs on a Hamilton RBI double and Sacco 2 run HR. The bullpen pitched well keeping the shutout until the 9th. Suero allowed a run in the 9th but held on for the save as Sugar Land won 3-1.

Note: Sacco is hitting .429 in Triple-A.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (49-77) lost 2-0 (BOX SCORE)

Rodriguez started for the Hooks and allowed 2 runs over 3.1 innings. The pen allowed a few runs as the Travelers extended their lead. The offense was quiet all night collecting just 4 hits as they fell in the 2-0 loss.

Note: Torres has a 3.52 ERA in Double-A.


A+: Asheville Tourists (50-77) lost 5-4 (BOX SCORE)

Asheville got on the board scoring 4 runs in the 3rd inning on a Janek 2 run double and Guillemette 2 run single. Urias got the start and tossed 5 scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts. Brockhouse pitched in relief but allowed 4 runs as the Renegades came back  to tie it in the 9th. In the 10th, the Renegades walked it off as Asheville fell 5-4.

Note: Urias has 107 K in 104.2 innings this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (53-73) won 1-0 (BOX SCORE)

David started for the Woodpeckers and tossed 3 scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts. He was relieved by Santos who struck out 4 over 4 scoreless innings. Trehey tossed 3 scoreless innings as the game went to extras. In the bottom of the 10th, the Woodpeckers won on a walk-off balk to win it 1-0.

Note: Trehey has a 2.79 ERA this season.
