Astros Minor League Recap: September 3rd

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (83-49) won 4-2 (BOX SCORE)

The offense got on the board scoring 2 runs in the first on a Leon sac fly and Melton RBI groundout. In the 3rd, Hummel added a sac fly. Melton continued his hot hitting connecting on an RBI single in the 5th. Gusto got the start and pitched really well allowing 1 run over 7 innings while striking out 7. The pen allowed a run but closed out the 4-2 win in the series opener.

Note: Gusto has 127 K in 131 innings this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (49-76) lost 7-1 (BOX SCORE)

Robaina got the start for the Hooks but struggled allowing 5 runs, 4 earned, over 4.1 innings. The offense got on the board in the 6th on a Barber RBI single. Hicks went 3 innings in relief allowing 2 runs, 1 earned but the offense was quiet the rest of the way as the Hooks fell 7-1.

Note: Hicks has 109 K in 102 innings this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (50-75) lost 4-3 (BOX SCORE)

Asheville got on the board in the 2nd inning on a Trimble RBI double and 2 run HR from Huezo. Nezuh got the start and was solid striking out 5 over 4.2 scoreless innings. Langford allowed 3 runs over 2.2 innings as the Renegades tied it up. The offense was quiet the rest of the way and in the 9th, the Rengades walked it off with a run scoring single.

Note: Nezuh has 146 K in 116.1 innings this season.
