Astros Prospect Hotlist: Week Twenty

For this piece, I will highlight the top performers at the plate and on the mound from the previous week of play. Below is the hotlist for Week Twenty. Here is last week’s hotlist.

Who’s Hot At The Plate?

Pedro Leon – Leon got optioned back down to Triple-A but that didn’t stop him from hitting. In six games this week, Leon hit .417 with 2 doubles, a home run and 4 runs batted in. He has 20 home runs and 25 stolen bases this season.

Tommy Sacco – Sacco has been a steady performed for the Hooks this year and had a nice week. The 25-year-old hit .368 with a double, triple, and 3 runs batted in over five games.

Zach Cole – Cole has been swinging it well lately and continued that this week. The 23-year-old hit .294 with 2 doubles and 2 home runs over 4 games. He has a .877 OPS this season. Read more on Cole here.

Brice Matthews – Matthews has shown off his potential this season. He collected three hits this week, a triple and two home runs, over 3 games. He has 14 home runs, 23 stolen bases and a .933 OPS overall this season.

Who’s Hot On The Mound?

Colton Gordon – Gordon has seen some ups and downs but this week he was great. In his one start, he tossed 6 scoreless innings while striking out 11. He has a 3.25 ERA over 5 starts in August.

Forrest Whitley – Whitley has been dominant in relief this season and this week he was great. He pitched in three games totaling 3.1 scoreless innings with 8 strikeouts. He has a 2.33 ERA with 39 K in 28.1 innings this season.

Nic Swanson – Swanson made one start this week for Asheville and was dominant allowing 1 run over 5 innings while racking up 9 strikeouts. He is now up to 103 K in 97 innings this season.

Joey Mancini – Mancini has been great in Double-A and this week was no different. The right-hander tossed 5 scoreless innings allowing 1 hit, dropping his Double-A ERA down to a minuscule 1.53 over 59 innings.

Derek True – True pitched in two games this week for Asheville. He went 4 innings allowing 1 run with 7 strikeouts in the first and went 5 innings allowing 1 earned run in the second. He has 103 strikeouts on the season.

Wilmy Sanchez – Sanchez has quietly been really good in relief this season. He was recently promoted to Asheville and was dominant in his two performances this week striking out 9 over 4 innings.
