Astros Minor League Recap: August 8th

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

Here is the previous day’s recap.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (71-39) lost 4-0 (BOX SCORE)

Junk got the start and was solid allowing 1 run over 3 innings. The bullpen was solid tossing 5 scoreless innings before Gaither allowed 3 in the 9th. The offense was quiet though as Sugar Land was shutout in the 4-0 loss.

Note: VanWey has 77 K in 54.1 innings this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (37-67) won 2-1 (BOX SCORE)

Ullola started for the Hooks and was great tossing 5 no-hit innings with 5 strikeouts. The offense got on the board in the 5th scoring a run on a wild pitch. Hicks relived Ullola and went 4 innings allowing 1 run. In the 9th, Espinosa walked it off with an RBI single as the Hooks won 2-1.

Note: Ullola has 127 K in 101.1 innings this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (44-59) lost 12-5 (BOX SCORE)

Asheville got on the board in the first inning on a Janek RBI single. They got 2 more runs in the 3rd on a Sherwin 2 run HR. Robaina got the start and went 2 innings allowing 2 runs. He was relieved by Henderson who allowed 1 unearned run over 2 innings. The offense got 2 more runs in the 4th scoring both on wild pitches. True pitched in relief but struggled allowing 8 runs as Asheville fell 12-5.

Note: Janek is 3-for-10 through 3 games.
