Astros Minor League Recap: August 3rd

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

Here is the previous day’s recap.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (67-38) won 11-6 (BOX SCORE)

Sugar Land got on the board in the 3rd inning on a Dezenzo 2 run double. In the 5th, the offense put up 5 runs on a Whitcomb solo HR, Melton RBI single and Hummel 3 run HR. Blubaugh got the start and went 4.2 innings allowing 3 runs while striking out 5.

Note: Dezenzo is hitting .415 in Triple-A.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (35-65) won 9-5 (BOX SCORE)

Mancini got the start for the Hooks and struck out 7 over 4.1 scoreless innings. The Hooks got on the board in the 3rd inning on a Matthews 2 run HR. The Hooks picked up 3 more runs in the 6th on an Espinosa 3 run HR. The offense got a few more in the 7th on a Barber 2 run single, Espinosa walk and a wild pitch. Fleury went the final 4 innings allowing 5 runs, 3 earned as the Hooks won 9-5.

Note: Mancini has a 1.50 ERA in Double-A this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (42-56) lost 1-0 (BOX SCORE)

Batista started for Asheville and pitched really well striking out 7 over 5 scoreless innings. He was relieved by Nezuh who struck out 6 over 4 innings allowing 1 run. Unfortunately the offense struggled in the game and were shutout in the 1-0 loss.

Note: Nezuh has 126 K in 95 innings this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (45-55) SUSPENDED
