Astros Minor League Recap: August 25th

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

Here is the previous day’s recap.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (77-48) won 13-4 (BOX SCORE)

Sugar Land got on the board in the first scoring 4 runs on a Leon RBI double and Hummel 3 run HR. They got 3 more runs in the 2nd inning on a Salazar solo HR and Leon 2 run HR. Junk got the start allowing 4 runs over 4.1 innings. The offense added 4 more in the 5th on a Machado bases loaded walk, run on a wild pitch and an error, and a Leon RBI single. Hummel added a 2 run HR in the 8th. The pen was great tossing 4.2 scoreless as they closed out the win.

Note: Whitley has a 2.33 ERA this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (43-75) CANCELLED

A+: Asheville Tourists (48-70) lost 5-4 (BOX SCORE)

True started for Asheville and went 4 innings allowing 2 runs, 1 earned. The offense got on the board in the 2nd inning on a Carrillo solo HR. They got another run in the 4th inning on a Cruz solo HR. The offense played add ons getting an Encarnacion RBI single in the 6th and the 8th inning to go up 4-2. Unfortunately, the pen failed to hold the lead as Asheville fell 5-4.

Note: Sanchez has 80 K in 51 innings this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (52-66) lost 9-2 (BOX SCORE)

Mayer made his professional debut and tossed 1 scoreless inning. He was relieved by Marquez who struggled allowing 7 runs over 3.2 innings. The offense got on the board scoring 2 runs in the 4th on a Holy bases loaded walk and Spence bases loaded hit by pitch. The pen allowed a couple more runs and the offense was quiet the rest of the way as the Woodpeckers fell 9-2.

Note: Holy has 9 SB this season.
