Astros Minor League Recap: August 13th

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (74-40) won 6-5 (BOX SCORE)

Sugar Land got on the board in the 2nd inning on a Salazar 2 run single. Gordon got the start and went 6 innings allowing 4 runs. The offense tied things up in the 6th on a Bastidas RBI single and a run scoring on an error. Sugar Land took the lead in the 7th inning on a Whitcomb 2 run HR. The pen was solid and Suero, despite allowing a run in the 9th, closed out the 6-5 win.

Note: Whitley has a 1.99 ERA this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (38-70) lost 5-0 (BOX SCORE)

Dombroski got the start and allowed 4 runs over 3.1 innings of work. The pen allowed a run as the Hooks went down 5-0. The offense struggled collecting just 3 hits as they were shutout in the 5-0 loss.

Note: Torres has 49 K in 43.2 innings this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (45-62) lost 3-1 (BOX SCORE)

Asheville got on the board scoring a run in the first inning on a double play. Urias started for Asheville and allowed 2 runs over 4 innings of work. The pen allowed 1 run over the final 4 innings but the offense was unable to score again as the Tourists fell 3-1.

Note: Gomez has 14 SB this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (47-60) lost 5-4 (BOX SCORE)

Nunez got the start and allowed 2 runs over 3 innings. The Woodpeckers got on the board in the 6th on a Spence solo HR. They fell behind 4-1 but rallied for 3 runs in the 8th on a wild pitch, Spencer RBI triple and RBI groundout from Sullivan. In the 9th, the GreenJackets walked it off on a wild pitch as the Woodpeckers fell 5-4.

Note: Bush has 10 doubles this season.
