Astros Minor League Recap: July 3rd

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

Here is the previous day’s recap.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (54-30) won 4-3 (BOX SCORE)

Sugar Land got on the board in the 2nd inning on a Narvaez sac fly. In the 3rd, Whitcomb connected on a 2 run HR, his 19th homer of the season. Blubaugh got the start and went 5 innings allowing 3 runs while striking out 6. Sugar Land took the lead in the top of the 6th on a Hamilton solo HR. The pen was great tossing 4 scoreless innings as they closed out the 4-3 win.

Note: Whitcomb has a .961 OPS this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (28-49) lost 7-3 (BOX SCORE)

The Hooks got on the board in the second inning on a Palma RBI single. Fleury got the start and was solid in his return allowing 2 runs, 1 earned, over 3 innings. The pen struggled allowing 5 runs as the Missions extended their lead. The Hooks responded with RBI singles from Sacco and Arocho in the 6th and 7th innings but that was it as the Hooks fell 7-3.

Note: Cole has a .728 OPS in Double-A.


A+: Asheville Tourists (33-42) lost 4-2 (BOX SCORE)

Johnson put the Tourists on the board in the 2nd inning with a 2 run HR. Dombroski got the start and allowed 1 run over 4.2 innings while striking out 7. The pen allowed a few runs as the Drive took a 4-2 lead. The Asheville offense was quiet the rest of the way as the Tourists fell 4-2.

Note: Johnson has 12 HR this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (35-43) lost 7-2 (BOX SCORE

Santos got the start but struggled allowing 5 runs over 4.1 innings. Ochoa put the Woodpeckers on the board with a 2 run single in the 6th. Langford was solid in relief allowing 1 run over 4 innings while striking out 7. The offense was quiet the rest of the way as the Woodpeckers fell 7-2.

Note: Langford has 34 K in 22.1 innings this season.
