Astros Minor League Recap: July 25th

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

Here is the previous day’s recap.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (63-35) lost 11-9 (BOX SCORE)

Sugar Land got on the board first scoring 3 runs in the 3rd on a Kessinger RBI sinle and a Narvaez 2 run HR. Kouba started for Sugar Land but struggled allowing 4 runs over 4 innings. Gomez relieved Kouba and allowed another 4 runs. The offense got one back in the 4th on a Kessinger solo HR and 2 in the 5th on a wild pitch and a Narvaez bases loaded walk. Sacramento got 3 more in the 7th and then in the bottom of the 7th, the Space Cowboys responded with 3 runs on an Amaya RBI single, Bastidas walk and Whitcomb sac fly to make it 11-9. Unfortunately that was it from the offense as Sugar Land fell 11-9.

Note: Whitley has a 2.81 ERA this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (32-60) lost 3-2 (BOX SCORE)

The Hooks got on the board in the 3rd inning on a Williams solo HR. They got another run in the 5th on an Arocho RBI single. Guilfoil started for the Hooks and was solid allowing 2 runs over 5 innings with 5 strikeouts. He was relieved by Brown who allowed 1 run over 3 innings. The offense was quiet the rest of the way though as the Hooks fell 3-2.

Note: Cole has a .864 OPS in Double-A.


A+: Asheville Tourists (38-52) lost 12-3 (BOX SCORE)

Pecko started for Asheville but struggled allowing 6 runs, 5 earned, over 3.2 innings while striking out 7. The pen struggled too allowing 6 runs as the Grasshoppers took a 12-0 lead. The offense 2 runs in the 7th on a Cruz 2 run HR and another run in the 8th on a Carrillo solo HR. That was it from the offense though as Asheville fell 12-3.

Note: Deming has a .814 OPS this season.
