Astros Minor League Recap: July 10th

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

Here is the previous day’s recap.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (56-31) POSTPONED

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (28-54) lost 12-5 (BOX SCORE)

Fleury got the start for the Hooks but struggled allowing 5 runs over 2.1 innings. The offense got on the board in the 2nd inning on a Cole 2 run HR. In the 3rd, Matthews connected on a solo HR. They got another run in the 4th on a Cole run scoring single. Brown came on in relief but struggled allowing 6 runs, 3 earned, over 3.2 innings as the Hooks fell 12-5.

Note: Cole has a .792 OPS in Double-A.


A+: Asheville Tourists (36-44) won 7-5 (BOX SCORE)

Dombroski started for Asheville and pitched well allowing 1 run over 5 innings while striking out 6. The offense got on the board in the 3rd inning on a Cerny 2 run HR. In the 5th they picked up 3 runs on a wild pitch and a Deming 2 run single. They got 2 more runs in the 7th on a Deming 2 run HR. The pen allowed a few runs but was able to hold on for the 7-5 win.

Note: Cerny has a .827 OPS this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (37-46) won 11-3 (BOX SCORE

The Woodpeckers got on the board in the second scoring a run on an error. They picked up another in the 4th on a Bush RBI single. Langford got the start and went 4.1 innings allowing 3 runs with 7 strikeouts. In the 6th, the Woodpeckers tied the game on a Jaworsky steal of home. The Woodpeckers opened up a lead in the 7th scoring 5 runs on a Jaworsky 2 run single, Hernandez 2 run double and Nunez RBI single. The offense added 3 more in the 9th on a Hernandez bases loaded walk and Nunez 2 run double. Santos dominated striking out 6 over 4 scoreless as he closed out the win.

Note: Santos has 76 K in 68.2 innings this season.
