Astros Prospect Hotlist: Week Nine

For this piece, I will highlight the top performers at the plate and on the mound from the previous week of play. Below is the hotlist for Week Nine. Here is last week’s Hotlist.

Who’s Hot At The Plate?

Will Wagner – Will Wagner has really started to pick things up, including hitting .333 in May. This week, he hit .611 (11-for-18) with 3 doubles, 2 triples and 4 runs batted in. He also continued to walk drawing 6 walks to 2 strikeouts.

Zach Cole – Cole started the season injured but has quickly made himself at home in Double-A. This week in four games, Cole hit .333 with a double and drove in 3 runs. He is hitting .288 overall this year.

Trey Cabbage – Cabbage had a monster week. In six games he had 7 hits, all for extra bases. He had 2 doubles, 5 homers and drove in 15 runs. This included an 8 RBI night on Wednesday.

Jeremy Arocho – Arocho has been pretty consistent for the Hooks this year but together a really strong week hitting .500 over 5 games. He also stole 5 bases and picked up 4 walks. He has a .388 OBP this season.

Who’s Hot On The Mound?

Jackson Nezuh – Nezuh pitched in two games this week. In the first he went 5 innings allowing 2 runs with 7 strikeouts. In the second he tossed 5 scoreless with 4 strikeouts. Overall he has 55 K in 46.2 innings this season.

Ethan Pecko – Pecko also pitched in two games this week. In his first he went 4 scoreless while striking out 6. In his second outing he went 4 scoreless again, this time with 9 strikeouts. He has 53 K and a 2.50 ERA this season.

Aaron Brown – Brown had another really good start for the Hooks this week. The right-hander went 6 scoreless striking out 6. Overall he has a 4.04 ERA with 46 K in 35.2 innings this season.

Yeriel Santos – Santos had probably his best outing as a pro this week. In his one start for Fayetteville, the right-hander tossed 5 scoreless innings allowing just 2 hits and striking out 6. Santos has a 3.20 ERA this season.

Sandy Mejia – Mejia also had a great outing for the Woodpeckers this week. The 20-year-old tossed 5 scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts. He has 38 K in 28 innings this season.
