Astros Minor League Recap: June 7th

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

Here is the previous day’s recap.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (39-22) won 7-1 (BOX SCORE)

Sugar Land got on the board early and often. They picked up a run in the first on a Loperfido RBI double. In the 2nd inning they got a Hensley solo HR. The offense blew it open in the third scoring 5 runs on a Hummel 3 run HR, a Leon solo HR and Whitcomb solo HR. Henley got the start and allowed 1 run over 4.1 innings. The bullpen was great tossing 4.2 scoreless innings as they closed out the 7-1 win..

Note: Whitcomb has a .920 OPS this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (21-34) lost 8-0 (BOX SCORE)

Knorr started for the Hooks but struggled allowing 6 runs over 3.2 innings. Mancini came on in relief and was great tossing 4 scoreless innings. The offense was quiet though picking up just five hits on the night as they were shutout in the 8-0 loss.

Note: Cole is hitting .306 in Double-A.


A+: Asheville Tourists (24-28) won 11-7 (BOX SCORE)

Asheville got on the board first getting a solo HR from Loftin in the 3rd inning. Swanson got the start and was great allowing just 1 run over 5 innings. Asheville got another run in the 5th on a Deming RBI single. The Hot Rods would score 5 in the 6th taking a 6-2 lead. The offense responded though in the bottom of the inning scoring 6 runs on a Cerny solo HR, Loftin sac fly, Baez 3 run HR and Deming solo HR. They scored 3 more in the 8th on a Baez RBI double and Garcia 2 run HR. Perez closed it out tossing 2.1 scoreless with 6 strikeouts as he got the save.

Note: Baez is hitting .286 this season.

  • Railin Perez, RHP: 2.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 K (SAVE)

A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (25-30) lost 8-2 (BOX SCORE

Marte got the start for the Woodpeckers and went 4 innings allowing 3 runs. Nunez got Fayetteville on the board with a 2 run single in the 5th. Rodriguez relieved Marte but struggled allowing 5 runs over 3.2 innings. The offense was quiet the rest of the night as the Woodpeckers fell 8-2.

Note: Jaworsky has 9 doubles this season.
