Astros Minor League Recap: June 25th

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (50-26) won 6-1 (BOX SCORE)

Sugar Land got on the board in the second inning scoring 3 runs on a Hensley 2 run double and Wrobleski RBI single. The offense got 3 more in the 5th on a Wrobleski solo HR and Wagner 2 run HR. Gusto got the start and was great tossing 7 scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts. The bullpen allowed a run but held on for the 6-1 win.

Note: Whitcomb has a .965 OPS this season.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (26-44) lost 3-2 (BOX SCORE)

Mancini started for the Hooks and was solid allowing 2 runs over 5 innings. The offense got on the board in the 4th on a Price single and then picked up another run in the 6th when Melton scored on a balk. The RoughRiders got a run in the 8th to take a 3-2 lead and the offense was unable to score again as the Hooks dropped the series opener 3-2.

Note: Mancini has a 2.21 ERA in Double-A.


A+: Asheville Tourists (31-7) won 1-0 (BOX SCORE)

Asheville got on the board in the 5th inning getting an RBI single from Deming. Swanson got the start and pitched well tossing 5 scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts. The bullpen was great tossing 4 scoreless innings as they closed out the 1-0 win to open the series.

Note: Perez has a 2.35 ERA in High-A.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (31-39) won 8-4 (BOX SCORE

The Woodpeckers jumped out to a 3-0 lead thanks to an Ochoa 3 run HR in the first. Mejia got the start and went 4 innings allowing 2 runs with 5 strikeouts. The Woodpeckers picked up 4 more runs in the 6th on a Hernandez 2 run single, a run scoring on an error and a Nunez RBI single. Villarroel added another run in the 7th on an RBI single. Peralta made his full-season debut and went 3.2 innings allowing 2 runs with 4 strikeouts. Almonte closed it out tossing 1.1 scoreless innings.

Note: Villarroel is hitting .409 in Single-A.
