Astros Minor League Recap: June 11th

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (41-23) lost 11-2 (BOX SCORE)

Lauer started for Sugar Land and struggled allowing 5 runs over 5 innings. The offense got on the board in the 2nd inning thanks to a Machado 2 run HR. The pen allowed some runs and the offense was quiet the rest of the way as Sugar Land fell 11-2.

Note: Leon is hitting .283 this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (22-36) lost 5-4 (BOX SCORE)

After falling behind 2-0, the Hooks rallied for 3 runs in the 5th on a Brewer walk, Price hit by pitch and Arocho sac fly. Brown started for the Hooks and allowed 4 runs. Barbed tied things up with a solo HR in the 7th, but the Missions responded back with a run in the bottom of the inning to retake the lead. The offense was unable to get anything else going as the Hooks fell 5-4.

Note: Barber has a .768 OPS this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (25-30) won 15-5 (BOX SCORE)

Asheville got the scoring started early with a Deming 2 run HR in the first inning. They got 2 more runs in the 3rd on a Garcia 2 run HR. In the 4th, the offense scored 3 runs on a Loftin 2 run triple and Matthews RBI single. Asheville picked up 6 runs in the 5th on RBI singles from Johnson, Encarnacion and Loftin, a based loaded walk to Deming and then RBI singles from Garcia and Cerny. Hicks got the start and allowed 4 runs over 4.2 innings with 4 strikeouts. Garcia added another HR in the 9th. True allowed a few runs but closed it out.

Note: Deming has a .895 OPS  this season.

A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (25-33) lost 3-1 (BOX SCORE

Gomez put the Woodpeckers on the board in the first inning with a solo HR. Santos got the start for the Woodpeckers and pitched well allowing 1 run over 5 innings of work. Almonte relieved Santos and allowed 2 runs over 2 innings. The offense went cold again as the Woodpeckers dropped the series opener 3-1.

Note: Tredwell has 43 K in 38 innings this season.
