Astros Minor League Recap: May 4th

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

Here is the previous day’s recap.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (21-11) lost 6-4 (BOX SCORE)

Sugar Land got on the board in the 2nd inning on a Whitcomb RBI groundout. They got another run in the 3rd on Leon bases loaded walk. In the 4th, Berryhill added a solo HR. Blubaugh started for Sugar Land and went 4 innings allowing 3 runs. He was relieved by Diaz who gave up 3 runs as El Paso took the lead. Whitcomb added a solo HR in the 8th but that was it as Sugar Land was unable to complete the comeback.

Note: Leon has a .931 OPS with 11 SB this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (8-18) lost 11-0 (BOX SCORE)

Javier started for the Hooks and went 3.1 innings before being pulled. 3 runs scored after he came out of the game. Ullola struggled in relief allowing 6 runs as Frisco extended their lead to 11-0. The Hooks offense was quiet all night collecting just 2 hits as they fell 11-0.


A+: Asheville Tourists (11-14) won 13-1 (BOX SCORE)

Guedez started for Asheville and pitched really well allowing just 1 unearned run over 5 innings of work. The offense got on the board in the 2nd inning on a Whitaker solo HR. In the 6th, Asheville took the lead on a Ferreras RBI single and a run scoring on an error. The offense blew things open in the 7th scoring 10 runs on a Williams RBI single, Ferreras RBI single, Baez 2 run HR, Cruz grand slam and RBI doubles from Williams and Ferreras. Mancini was dominant in relief tossing 4 no-hit innings as he closed it out.

Note: Williams is hitting .370 this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (15-11) lost 3-1 (BOX SCORE)

Nezuh started for the Woodpeckers and went 4 innings allowing 3 runs, 2 earned. The lone run for the Woodpeckers came when Jaworsky scored on a wild pitch. Pecko pitched in relief tossing 4 perfect innings with 3 strikeouts, but the offense was unable to get anything else going as the Woodpeckers fell 3-1.

Note: Pecko has 22 K in 18.2 innings this season.
