Astros Minor League Recap: May 2nd

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

Here is the previous day’s recap.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (20-10) won 8-5 (BOX SCORE)

Henley started for Sugar Land and went 4 innings allowing 5 runs. The offense got on the board in the 4th scoring 4 runs on a Leon 3 run HR and Whitcomb RBI groundout. They got another run in the 5th on an error to tie it. The offense took the lead in the 8th scoring 3 runs on a Hummel 2 run single and Whitcomb RBI single. The bullpen was great tossing 5 scoreless innings and closed out the 8-5 win.

Note: Leon has a .926 OPS this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (7-17) lost 5-1 (BOX SCORE)

Guilfoil started for the Hooks and was great allowing 1 run and 1 hit over 5 innings of work. Brewer put the Hooks on the board with an RBI double in the 3rd inning. The pen struggled late allowing 4 runs as Frisco took the lead. The offense was silent the rest of the way as the Hooks fell 5-1.

Note: Strotman has a 1.69 ERA in Double-A.


A+: Asheville Tourists (10-13) lost 8-2 (BOX SCORE)

Dombroski started for Asheville and allowed 4 runs over 4 innings. The Tourists got on the board in the bottom of the 4th on an error. In the 5th, Baez added a solo HR. Calderon pitched in relief and allowed 4 runs over 5 innings. The offense was quiet the rest of the way as Asheville fell 8-2.

Note: Williams is hitting .368 this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (15-9) lost 4-3 (BOX SCORE)

True got the start for the Woodpeckers and was very good allowing 1 run over 5 innings of work. The offense got on the board in the 3rd scoring 3 runs on a Carrillo 2 run HR and another run scoring on a double play. Mejia pitched in relief and allowed 2 runs in the 7th and then a run in the 9th as the Shorebirds walked off the Woodpeckers.

Note: Jaworsky has 9 SB this season.
