Astros Minor League Recap: May 28th

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (33-19) lost 9-5 (BOX SCORE)

Blubaugh started for Sugar Land but struggled allowing 6 runs over 3.1 innings. The offense got on the board in the 4th thanks to a Hummel 2 run HR. They picked up 2 more runs in the 6th on a wild pitch and a Hamilton groundout. The pen allowed 3 runs as the Aviators extended their lead. The offense got one back in the 9th but that would be it as Sugar Land fell 9-5.

Note: Hummel has a .925 OPS this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (15-31) lost 12-2 (BOX SCORE)

Ullola started and was pitching well until the 5th when the wheels fell off and he allowed 6 runs. The offense got on the board in the 7th on an Espinosa sac fly. They scored another run in the 7th on a Brewer RBI double. The bullpen struggled allowing 6 runs as the RockHounds went on to win 12-2.

Note: Sacco is hitting .274 this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (20-25) lost 11-6 (BOX SCORE)

Dombroski started for Asheville and struck out 8 over 3.2 innings, but allowed 4 runs. The offense got on the board in the 4th scoring 2 runs on a Fisher solo HR and Encarnacion RBI single. They got 2 more in the 6th on a 2 run single by Sherwin. Calderon pitched in relief and struggled allowing 7 runs over 4 innings. Garcia connected on a solo HR in the 7th and they got one more in the 9th on an Encarnacion RBI single but that was it as Asheville fell 11-6.

Note: Garcia has a .757 OPS this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (22-24) won 14-2 (BOX SCORE

The Woodpeckers scored early and often in this one. They got a run in the first on a Carrillo RBI double and another run in the 2nd inning on a Luciano sac fly. In the third, they scored a run on a Santander RBI single and then got a Nunez solo HR in the 4th. Nezuh got the start and pitched well allowing 2 runs over 5 innings while striking out 7. The Woodpeckers put up a crooked number in the 5th scoring 2 runs on a Carrillo RBI single and a run on a double play. In the 6th, the offense got 2 more on a Bush 2 run HR. The offense picked up 6 more runs in the 8th, all on bases loaded walks. Pecko closed it out striking out 6 over 4 scoreless innings.

Note: Pecko has 44 K in 35.2 innings this season.
