Astros Minor League Recap: May 26th

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

Here is the previous day’s recap.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (33-18) won 5-0 (BOX SCORE)

Berryhill put Sugar Land on the board with a 2 run HR in the 4th inning. Henley got the start and was great tossing 6 no-hit innings before allowing a single to lead off the 7th and was pulled. The offense got another run in the 6th on a Salazar sac fly. Hummel added some insurance with a 2 run HR in the 8th. Dubin and Contreras combined to close out the 5-0 win.

Note: Wagner has 31 BB/18 K in 42 games this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (15-30) won 8-7 (BOX SCORE)

Robaina started for the Hooks but struggled allowing 5 runs over 4.2 innings. The bullpen kept it close allowing 1 run over the next 3.1 innings. In the bottom of the 8th, the Hooks rallied to score 7 runs on a Correa RBI double, Arocho RBI single, Cole RBI groundout, Brewer 2 run single, and Barber RBI single to take a 7-6 lead. The Travelers tied it in the 9th but in the bottom of the inning, the Hooks walked it off getting a run on an error.

Note: Ferreras has a 1.065 OPS in Double-A.


A+: Asheville Tourists (20-24) won 3-0 (BOX SCORE)

Asheville got on the board in the 4th inning thanks to a Deming 2 run HR, his third of the season. They picked up another run on a wild pitch in the 7th to make it 3-0. Batista got the start for Asheville and was dominant tossing 6 scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts. He came out for the 7th, but the game was sent into a delay because of lightning and eventually called as Asheville won the series finale 3-0.

Note: Batista has a 3.24 ERA this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (21-24) lost 6-4 (BOX SCORE

The Woodpeckers got on the board in the first scoring 2 runs on a fielder’s choice and Hernandez sac fly. They got another run in the 4th on a Santander solo HR. Marte got the start and went 4 innings allowing 2 runs. A Jaworsky walk in the 6th inning extended the lead. The Woodpeckers went into the 8th up 4-2 but Rodriguez allowed 4 runs as the Red Sox took the lead and the eventual win, 4-2.

Note: Santander has a .755 OPS this season.
