Astros Minor League Recap: May 1st

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

Here is the previous day’s recap.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (19-10) lost 6-4 (BOX SCORE)

Sugar Land got on the board in the 2nd inning on a Julks sac fly. They got another run in the 3rd on Bastidas groundout. Gusto started for Sugar Land allowed 3 runs over 5 innings while striking out 6. The offene got 2 runs in the 4th on a Whitcomb RBI double and Berryhill RBI single. Kouba struggled in relief allowing 3 runs and the offense was unable to comeback as Sugar Land fell 6-4.

Note: Leon is hitting .311 this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (7-16) lost 3-1 (BOX SCORE)

Santos got the start and went 5 innings allowing 2 runs. The offense got on the board in the 2nd inning on a Hamilton solo HR. Fleury pitched in relief and pitched well, allowing 1 run over 4 innings but the offense was unable to do anything else as the Hooks fell 3-1.

Note: The HR for Hamilton was his firs this year in Double-A.


A+: Asheville Tourists (10-12) won 8-4 (BOX SCORE)

Batista started for Asheville and pitched well allowing 2 runs, 1 earned over 4 innings of work. The offense got on the board in the 2nd inning on a Deming solo HR. Williams tied the game in the 5th on a solo HR. Guillemette gave Asheville the lead in the 6th with a 2 run double. Baez added another run in the 7th with an RBI single. The offense added some insurance in the 8th scoring 3 runs on a Guillemette solo HR and Baez 2 run double. Taylor allowed 2 runs over 4 innings in relief and Perez had a scoreless 9th to close it out.

Note: Perez has a 1.29 ERA this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (15-8) won 5-4 (BOX SCORE)

Pena started for the Woodpeckers and pitched really well allowing 2 runs, 1 earned, over 4.2 innings while striking out 6. The offense got on the board in the 5th on a Caldera RBI single. In the 6th, they picked up 2 more on an error and sac fly. They extended the lead in the 7th scoring 2 more runs on an error and passed ball. Santos allowed 2 runs in relief but held on as the Woodpeckers won 5-4.

Note: Pena has a 1.37 ERA this season.
