Astros Minor League Recap: May 15th

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

Here is the previous day’s recap.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (26-15) lost 9-2 (BOX SCORE)

Tamarez started for Sugar Land but struggled allowing 7 runs over 3.1 innings. The offense got on the board in the 3rd on a Berryhill solo HR and a Salazar sac fly. The pen kept the game close but the offense was unable to get anything else going as Sugar Land fell 9-2.

Note: Wagner is hitting .263 in May.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (12-23) won 5-4 (BOX SCORE)

The Hooks got on the board in the first scoring a run on an error. They got another run in the 2nd on an Espinosa RBI single. In the 4th, Price added an RBI single. Robaina got the start and was solid allowing 3 runs over 5.2 innings. The pen was great as they tossed scoreless outings forcing extra innings. In the 10th, the Hooks scored 2 runs on Correa and Wrobleski RBI single. The Missions got one in the bottom of the 10th but Brockhouse was able to hold on for the save.

Note: Robaina has 2.25 ERA in Double-A this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (14-20) win 4-3 (BOX SCORE)

Williams started the game off for the Tourists connecting on a leadoff homer in the bottom of the first. Hicks started for Asheville and pitched really well allowing 1 run over 5 innings while striking out 7. He was relieved by True who allowed 2 runs over 4 innings with 7 strikeouts. In the bottom of the 9th, Asheville loaded the bases for Williams and he can through with a 2 run single and a throwing error allowed another run to score as Asheville walked it off for the 4-3 win.

Note: Hicks has a 1.13 ERA overall this season.

A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (18-17) lost 22-1 (BOX SCORE)

Marte started for the Woodpeckers and allowed 6 runs over 1.2 innings. The offense got on the board in the 4th inning on a Nunez RBI single. The pen really struggled allowing 13 runs and walking 12 total before going to a position player as the Woodpeckers fell big last night.

Note: Gomez has 9 doubles this season.
