Astros Minor League Recap: May 14th

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (26-14) won 16-7 (BOX SCORE)

Sugar Land got on the board first scoring 3 runs in the first inning on a Bastidas solo HR and Salazar 2 run HR. They got another in the 2nd inning on a Bastidas sac fly. In the third, they got a 2 run HR from Whitcomb. Leon would added a 3 run HR in the 4th inning to extend the lead. Henley started for Sugar Land and allowed 3 runs over 4 innings. The offense continued to swing it well getting a 3 run HR from Leon and a 2 run HR from Whitcomb in the 6th inning. The bullpen allowed a few runs but the offense did more than enough to lock up the 16-7 win.

Note: Leon has a .939 OPS this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (11-23) lost 6-2 (BOX SCORE)

Guilfoil started for the Hooks and went 4 innings allowing 4 runs. He was relieved by De Paula who walked four and allowing 1 run in 1 inning. The offense got on the board scoring 2 runs in the 6th on a McCormick sac fly and Ferreras RBI single. Ford tossed 2 scoreless in relief but the offense was quiet the rest of the way as the Hooks fell 6-2.

Note: Ford has 2.79 ERA this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (13-20) lost 11-1 (BOX SCORE)

Dombroski started for Asheville but struggled allowing 6 runs over 1.2 innings. He was relieved by Austin who tossed 2.1 scoreless inning in his High-A debut. Calderon was next in and he allowed 5 runs over 5 innings. The offense was quiet on the night with their lone run coming in the 7th on a Deming RBI double as Asheville fell 11-1.

Note: Austin has a 0.77 ERA overall this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (18-16) lost 3-0 (BOX SCORE)

Mejia started for the Woodpeckers and allowed 1 unearned run over 3 innings. He was relieved by Almonte who went 3 innings allowing 1 run. Petchske went the final 2 innings allowing 1 run as the Woodpeckers were down 3-0. The offense was quiet on the night as they picked up just five hits in the 3-0 shutout.

Note: Gomez has 9 doubles this season.
