Astros Minor League Recap: May 11th

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

Here is the previous day’s recap.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (25-13) won 3-1 (BOX SCORE)

Sugar Land got on the board in the first scoring 2 runs on a Salazar RBI double. Gordon started for the Space Cowboys and pitched well allowing 1 run over 5.1 innings while striking out 3. Hummel added another run in the 5th on a solo homer. The bullpen as great tossing 3.2 scoreless innings as they closed out the 3-1 win.

Note: Suero has a 2.20 ERA this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (10-22) won 2-0 (BOX SCORE)

The Hooks got on the board first scoring a run in the first inning on a Price sac fly. They got another run in the 3rd on a Sacco solo HR. Bloss started for the Hooks and was dominant again tossing 6 scoreless innings with o BB to 4 strikeouts. The pen was great as they tossed 3 scoreless innings closing out the 2-0 win.

Note: Bloss has a 1.22 ERA this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (13-18) won 6-4 (BOX SCORE)

Swanson got the start for Asheville and went 4.2 innings allowing 1 hit and 2 runs. The offense got on the board in the 4th on a Deming RBI single. They picked up 2 more in the 5th on a wild pitch and Baez RBI double. After Winston-Salem took the lead, the offense responded back with 2 more runs in the 7th on a Baez RBI single and bases loaded walk to Cruz. Baez added another RBI single in the 8th. Mancini went the final four innings allowing 2 unearned runs with 7 strikeouts and was able to hold on as Asheville won 6-4.

Note: Baez is hitting .295 this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (18-14) lost 8-7 (BOX SCORE)

The Woodpeckers got on the board in the first on a Carrillo RBI double. They got 2 more in the 3rd on a Carrillo RBI double and Santander RBI single. In the 4th, Bush added a 2 run double. Tredwell started for the Woodpeckers and allowed 3 runs over 5.2 innings. The Mudcats took the lead in the 6th but the Woodpeckers rallied back scoring 2 in the 7th on a Santander bases loaded walk and Jaworsky RBI groundout. In the 9th, the Mudcats retook the lead scoring 2 runs to go up 8-7. The Woodpeckers loaded the bases in the bottom of the inning but were unable to come through as they fell 8-7.

Note: Carrillo has a .852 OPS this season.
