Astros Minor League Recap: April 25th

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (16-8) won 6-5 (BOX SCORE)

Gusto got the start and Sugar Land and pitched well allowing 2 runs over 5.1 innings. The offense got on the board in the 2nd inning scoring 3 runs on a Leon 2 run double and Wagner RBI single. They got another run in the 5th on a Wagner RBI groundout. The pen allowed 2 runs as the Aces tied things up and forced extra innings. In the 10th, Wagner delivered a 2 run double to give Sugar Land the lead. Suero allowed a run in the bottom of the 10th but was able to hold on for the save.

Note: Leon is hitting .307 this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (5-13) lost 5-1 (BOX SCORE)

Fleury got the start for the Hooks and allowed 4 runs over 3.2 innings, though he did strike out 7. The offense got on the board in the 4th on a bases loaded walk to Stubbs. The pen went 4.1 innings allowing just 1 run but the offense was unable to rally as the Hooks fell 5-1.

Note: Corona has 10 SB this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (7-10) lost 7-2 (BOX SCORE)

Taylor got the start and allowed 3 runs, 2 earned over 2.1 innings. Batista pitched in relief and allowed 4 runs, 3 earned, over 3 innings of work. The offense got on the board in the 5th on a Johnson solo HR. In the 7th, they got another run on a Matthews RBI single. That was it from the offense though as Asheville fell 7-2.

Note: Torres has a 1.80 ERA this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (11-7) won 3-2 (BOX SCORE)

The Woodpeckers got on the board first getting a run in the first inning on an Ochoa sac fly. Santos got the start and was solid allowing 2 runs over 4.1 innings with 5 strikeouts. Pena pitched in relief and tossed 3.2 scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts. The Woodpeckers tied things up in the 7th on a wild pitch. The game went to extra innings and in the bottom of the 10th, the Woodpeckers walked it off getting a run on an error as they picked up the 3-2 win.

Note: Pena has a 1.20 ERA this season.
