Astros Minor League Recap: April 24th

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (15-8) lost 19-6 (BOX SCORE)

Sugar Land got on the board first getting a solo HR from Loperfido in the first inning. Kouba got the start but struggled allowing 7 runs over 3 innings. He was relieved by Greene who allowed 5 runs in just 1 inning of work. The offense picked up 2 runs in the 5th on a Hensley RBI groundout and another Loperfido solo HR. In the 6th, Leon connected on a solo HR. Hensley added a solo HR in the 9th, but the pen allowed another 7 runs as Sugar Land fell 19-6.

Note: Loperfido has 12 HR this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (5-12) lost 3-1 (BOX SCORE)

Santos got the start for the Hooks and allowed 3 runs over 4.2 innings with 5 strikeouts. Brown was great in relief striking out 4 over 3 scoreless innings. The offense finally got on the board in the 9th scoring a run on a Brewer RBI single but that was it as the Hooks fell 3-1.

Note: Brown has 27 K in 16.2 innings this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (7-9) lost 4-1 (BOX SCORE)

Asheville got on the board first getting a solo HR from Garcia in the 2nd inning. Swanson got the start and was solid striking out 7 over 5.1 innings while allowing 3 runs. Cobos allowed a run in relief as Hickory extended their lead to 4-1. The offense was unable to get anything else going as the Tourists fell by that score.

Note: Swanson has 19 K in 14.1 innings this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (10-7) lost 10-4 (BOX SCORE)

Langford started for the Woodpeckers and was solid allowing 1 run over 3 innings of work. He was relieved by Tredwell who allowed 4 runs over 2 innings. The offense got on the board in the 5th scoring 3 runs on a Carrillo 3 run HR. The bullpen allowed a few more runs as the Wood Ducks went up 10-3. The offense got one more run in the 9th on a Carrillo RBI single but that was it as the Woodpeckers fell 10-4.

Note: Gomez is hitting .321 this season.
